Sehrawat beat Russian wrestler Abakarov Zelimkhan 12-0 in a dominating bout. This win has renewed optimism for India’s chances at a wrestling medal, particularly in light of Vinesh Phogat’s disappointment a day earlier.

Aman, who hails from Haryana, advanced to the semis after decisively defeating his opponent after a previous victory over a competitor from Macedonia. Amas started off the match very cautiously, similar to what he did in his last bout but was quick enough to execute a brilliant single-leg takedown. Although his Russian opponent managed to escape his move, it was enough for the Indian wrestler to establish a 3-0 lead.

Aman shifted gear in the second half

Sehrawat changed his approach in the second half and turned out to be more aggressive which help him in the crucial bout. Displaying an impressive offensive strategy, he successfully trapped Abakarov once again in a single-leg takedown, showcasing his prowess by rolling the opponent over three times to secure victory by technical superiority. The match concluded with Aman holding an 11-0 advantage, leading the umpires to declare him the winner.

The ace Indian freestyle wrestler would be up against Rei Higuchi of Japan in the semifinal bout later tonight. The contest, which renews the country’s hopes for a gold or at least a silver medal will take place at 9.45 PM IST. Higuchi, a seasoned freestyle wrestler from Japan, has been a dominant force on the international circuit. The Japanese wrestler secured his semifinal spot with a classic 12-2 victory over Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico.
