New Delhi: India missed out on equalling their best-ever medals tally at the Paris Olympics 2024 as the contingent finished with six medals. India won 5 bronze and 1 silver medal at the Paris Games to finish outside the top 70 countries on the medals table. Nonetheless, it was still a memorable campaign for India with several athletes producing memorable performances in Paris.

While Neeraj Chopra bagged India’s only silver medal in men’s javelin throw, Manu Bhaker turned out to be the most successful Indian athlete at the Paris Olympics 2024 with two bronze medals in shooting. The 23-year-old opened India’s account at the Games by taking a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event before securing another bronze medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event with Sarabjot Singh.

Manu created history by becoming the first Indian athlete post-independence to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics. Swapnil Kusale won India’s third medal in shooting after clinching bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions. Indian hockey team beat Spain to bag their second successive bronze medal at the Olympics.

Neeraj became India’s most successful Olympian after claiming a silver medal in men’s javelin throw. After Vinesh Phogat’s heartbreaking disqualification, Aman Sehrawat bagged India’s first medal in wrestling by bagging a bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 57kg category.

Manu Bhaker – Bronze medal in 10m air pistol

Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win a shooting medal at the Olympics after she bagged a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event. It was India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics. Manu ended India’s 12-year drought for a shooting medal at the Olympics with her bronze.

Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh – Bronze medal in mixed team 10m air pistol

Manu and Sarabjot Singh combined to win a bronze medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event. It was Manu’s second medal at the Paris Olympics as she became the first Indian woman to win two medals in a single edition of the games. She also became the first Indian post-independence to win two medals in the same edition of the Olympics.

Swapnil Kusale: Bronze medal in 50m rifle 3 position

Swapnil Kusale bagged India’s third medal at the Paris Olympics after picking up a bronze medal in the 50m rifle 3 position. Kusale became the first Indian to win an Olympic medal in the 50m rifle 3 position event.

Indian men’s hockey team: Bronze medal

The Indian men’s hockey team repeated their heroics from Tokyo 2020 by bagging a second consecutive bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. India defeated Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal match with the help of two goals from captain Harmanpreet Singh.

Neeraj Chopra: Silver medal in men’s javelin throw

India’s Golden Boy Neeraj Chopra failed to bag the elusive gold medal for the second successive time but managed to secure a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics 2024. Neeraj won the silver with his season-best throw of 89.45m. He finished second to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who broke the Olympic record with a stunning throw of 92.97m to clinch gold.

Aman Sehrawat: Bronze medal in men’s wrestling freestyle 57kg

Wrestler Aman Sehrawat scripted history by becoming the youngest Indian to win a medal at the Olympics. He defeated Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico 13-5 in the bronze medal match to finish third on the podium with a bronze medal. Aman won his first two bouts dominantly before going down against Japanese top-seed Rei Higuchi in the semi-final to play the bronze medal match.
