Manchester United set to sign a new agreement with Bruno Fernandes

New Delhi:

Bruno Fernandes is close to signing a new contract with Manchester United, as reported in the media after the Portugal midfielder had some positive meetings with the club’s top officials. Fernandes transferred to United in 2020 and already had two years left in his contract. There were rumours earlier that Fernandes might leave the club this summer, but he had mentioned previously that he wanted to stay with the club.

With all sides happy, the deal is supposed to be until 2027, with an option to extend the contract for another year. When the 29-year-old joined the club, United lacked an attacking setup in the team. He has been one of the prime faces in the team who has tried to turn the side into an attacking unit.

The Red Devils captain has made 234 appearances across all competition for the club scoring 73 times and making 65 assists. 23 of his goals have come from penalty spot. He has been someone who progressed well with the ball from the midfield and taken responsibility whilst pressing forward. Fernandes has been someone who has been connecting with the wingers and kept Man United in control of the pace of the game often.

Fernandes is one of the best signings of the United and his ability to to carry forward an inconsistent team has been compared with Bryan Robson. This season  he won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the third time in his United career, and only Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea have won more than him. Beyond everything, it his endurance that has made him a game changer for the side. Given the right players who can pass the ball and carry it forward, Fernandes can be quite creative with his playing.

His absence from the pitch on rare occasion of injury have been a reminder of what United misses without Fernandes in the setup. With the Red Devils starting their campaign of 2024-25 against Fullham, the most times Premier Leagues will want to have their best players on the line to maximise their chance of winning the trophy for the 14th time.

The Red Devils captain is all set to sign a new contract which will see his tenure extend until 2027.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
