Neeraj Chopra’s endorsement fee to rise: How much does India’s Golden Boy charge for an ad?

New Delhi: India’s Golden Boy Neeraj Chopra is all set to witness a remarkable rise in his earnings from endorsements after clinching a historic silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Neeraj failed to win the elusive gold medal in Paris after losing the top spot on the podium to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who produced a stunning throw of 92.97m in the men’s javelin final.

Chopra came up with his season-best attempt of 89.45m in the final which was enough to secure him the silver medal. The javelin star became the first athlete from India to win a gold medal and a silver medal in back-to-back Olympics. The 26-year-old became only the 4th Indian post-independence to win two medals at the Olympics.

The Indian javelin star is set to see a remarkable rise in his endorsement fee and overall endorsement portfolio after his heroics in the Paris Olympics 2024. As per a report in Moneycontrol, Neeraj’s endorsement is expected to go up to Rs 4-4.5 crore from Rs 3 crore per year, which is a hike of around 50%. His portfolio is also set to grow by 50% at the end of 2024.

“Neeraj already has a very strong portfolio which comprises 21 brands across 24 categories. Currently, we are talking to about six to eight brands to discuss endorsement,” Divyanshu Singh, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of JSW Sports, the company that manages Chopra’s brand endorsement deals, told Moneycontrol.

Apart from being one of India’s most successful Olympians, Chopra is also one of the most popular athletes in the country at present. He currently has several big brands in his portfolio, including the likes of Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega, Gillette and Visa among others. His endorsement portfolio is expected to reach around 32-24 companies by the end of 2024, which will put him ahead of India’s several prominent cricketers in terms of brand deals.

Currently, India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is one of the most popular names in the Indian cricket team, has around 20 companies in his endorsement portfolio and is pocketing around Rs 2.5 crore per deal, as per Moneycontrol. Neeraj is set to comfortably topple Pandya as his endorsement fee per deal is likely to increase to Rs 4-4.5 crore per year. The Tokyo Olympics gold medallist was charging Rs 3 crore per year until now.

“His endorsement fee has seen a 40 to 50 percent jump. Until about last year, he was doing all his endorsements at about Rs 3 core per year. Now that number would touch about Rs 4 to 4.5 crore per year, and that’s the kind of growth we are seeing,” said JSW’s Singh.

The hike in his endorsement fee and the enhancement of his brand portfolio would also mean Neeraj’s brand value will also increase significantly. The two-time Olympic medallist’s brand value stood at $29.6 million last year and is expected to go up by another 40-50% this year.

Neeraj’s extraordinary rise off the field would not have been possible without his heroics on the field for India. The 26-year-old has been unstoppable ever since winning his maiden Olympic gold medal in Tokyo. He won the gold medal in the Diamond League in 2022 followed by a gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Neeraj also became the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal at the Athletics World Championships in Budapest last year.

Neeraj Chopra’s endorsement fee is set to see a hike of around 50% after the Indian jevlin star won the silver medal at the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024. His overall endorsement portfolio is also set to grow.  Other Sports Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
