New Delhi: In a kind act to show the spirit of humanity, Indian cricketer KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty organised an auction ‘Cricket for Cause’ in Mumbai on Friday (August 23) to benefit the Vipla Foundation, a non-governmental (NGO) in the Maharashtra capital.
According to a Times of India report, KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty raised a whopping amount of INR 1.93 crores from the charity auction. There were memorabilia of former and current cricketers to help the deaf and intellectually children.
The most expensive item purchase in the auction was star batter Virat Kohli’ s jersey for Rs.40 lakhs and his gloves were sold for Rs.28 lakhs. Current Indian skipper for Tests and ODIs, Rohit Sharma’s bat was sold for Rs. 24 lakhs
India’s 2011 World Cup-winning skipper MS Dhoni’s bat was sold for Rs.11 lakhs and former India cricketer and head coach Rahul Dravid’s bat also went for Rs.11 lakhs. Meanwhile, KL Rahul’s jersey was sold for Rs.11 lakhs, as per the report from Times of India.

KL Rahul’s retirement speculations end with charity
KL Rahul posted an Instagram story on Thursday. He wrote: ‘I have an announcement to make, stay tuned’. This one-liner post speculated about the 32-year-old’s retirement from international cricket after he was ignored from selection in India’s victorious T20 World Cup in June. Some fabricated posts of Rahul announcing his retirement also circulated on social media.
