EPF: What is the process for online PF transfer? A step-by-step guide

Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said earlier this week that EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) will be transitioning to a revamped IT system in the October-December quarter this year paving the way for a smoother-than-ever subscriber experience and automated handling of many critical requests including claim processing. Until that change is done, let’s see how one goes about making an online transfer in EPF.

EPF online transfer steps

One has to log in to the EPFO website using one’s UAN (Universal Account Number) and password. You would find an option “One Member – One EPF Account (Transfer Request)” in the “Online Services” section.
Now one has to type in the details of the previous employer firm, its name, the EPF account number and the state of India where the company is registered.
The next step consists of entering the details of the current employer firm, its name and PF account number, and the state where its registered office is located.
Then one has to click the “Get OTP” option. The OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. After typing in the OTP, one has to click it to register the transfer request.
Not immediately done

Please remember that the request will not be immediately complied with. Instead, the portal will send an ID with which the request can be tracked. It takes a few days to complete the process, after which the new balance would show in the latest EPF account of the subscriber.

EPF transfer status tracking

One can also keep tracking the transfer request online. For this one has to enter the portal using UAN and password. Once the dashboard appears you can go to the “Track Claim Status” under “Services”.

Then one has to type in the tracking ID of the PF transfer request. Once it is entered, the portal will show the current status of your transfer request. It can show any one of the four alternatives – pending, approved, rejected or completed.

EPF transfer online process: Once upon a time all communication/applications with the EPFO had to be done only physically. EPFO will be moving to the opposite pole shortly once the upgraded IT system is inaugurated later this year.  Personal Finance Business News – Personal Finance News, Share Market News, BSE/NSE News, Stock Exchange News Today
