New Delhi: If you are planning a journey by train and do not have enough funds to book a ticket, do not worry. According to several media reports, the Indian Railways recently launched a new programme called ‘Book Now, Pay Later’. In this scheme, one may get a guaranteed ticket without making any payment. However, you have to finish the reservation online. Certain terms and conditions also have to be fulfilled.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd, known as IRCTC, introduced this scheme, allowing passengers to book e-tickets online and make the payment 15 days later. But let us help you understand how you can do this.
Steps on how you can use the ‘Book Now, Pay Later’ scheme
- To book a ticket, first log into your IRCTC account. Then, click on the “Book Now” option.
- On the next page, you will be asked to enter the captcha code and passenger details. Fill this out and click the submit button.
- After that, you will see the payment information page. You can pay with a credit card, debit card, the BHIM app, or net banking.
- To use the Pay Later option, you need to register first. Go to www.epaylater.in to register.
- Once you register, you can choose to pay later. If you select this option, you will receive your rail ticket without upfront payment.
- Please complete the payment within 14 days of booking the ticket. If you are late, you will be charged a 3.5 per cent service fee.
- If you pay on time, no additional payments are needed.
Where it can be used?
- Flight Bookings: You can book a flight using the IRCTC Air website or the mobile app, which is available for Android and iOS. To buy an e-ticket, just choose your destination and flight, then select the ePayLater option during payment. You’ll need to pay for the ticket within 14 days after booking.
- Train Tickets: To book a train ticket, select your starting and destination stations and the class of travel. You can also choose the ePayLater option and pay later for your e-ticket. This rule applies to Tatkal tickets as well. IRCTC handles over 100,000 Tatkal ticket bookings every day. Booking Tatkal tickets lets you enjoy a hassle-free train journey while paying later.
- Tour Packages: You can also use the ePayLater option for IRCTC tour packages. The company makes it easy to book your preferred domestic or international tour package and pay within 14 days.
