At News9 Live, we decided to put this debate to the test by asking netizens as to who is better between the two. Across various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X and WhatsApp, we posted the question, ”Irrespective of social media followers, who is the GOAT of soccer?”

While three of the four social media platforms witnessed an almost even split of the users, the poll results of the fourth social media platform shocked us. On X (formerly Twitter) 57 per cent were in favour of Lionel Messi while 43 per cent of the population voted for Cristiano Ronaldo. As far as WhatsApp is concerned, 34 per cent turned in favour of Ronaldo while 26 percent of the netizens voted for Messi.
On the most popular Instagram app, 52 per cent of people went in favour of Portugal’s Ronaldo while Argentina’s Messi gave a close fight by bagging 48 per cent of the vote share. Facebook came as a surprise and shock for all as the 100 per cent population went with Ronaldo while Messi bagged no votes.
Although Cristiano Ronaldo emerges as a favourite according to the poll results, Lionel Messi can’t ignored as far as the greatness is concerned.
