New Delhi: Gautam Gambhir will face a tough Test as Team India will face Bangladesh in the two-match Test series at home, starting from September 19. Gambhir took charge of the Men in Blue during the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka last month. After that the Men in Blue enjoyed a long break from international cricket.
However, from September Gambhir will be busy with the back-to-back Test series against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia. Before the Bangladesh Tests, The Indian head coach had a fun interaction on the sidelines of the Delhi Premier League (DPL).
Speaking on DPL T20’s social media page Gambhir played a ‘Bollywood x cricket’ game, wherein, he had to name a former or active Indian cricketer who is most fitting to a movie title or character. He called himself the ‘Angry Young man’ and picked Kohli as the ‘Shahenshah’ of Indian cricket. He also called Yuvraj Singh ‘Badshah’, Sachin Tendulkar ‘Dabang’, Rahul Dravid ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ , Jasprit Bumrah ‘Khiladi’, Shikhar Dhawan ‘Gabbar’ and Sourav Ganguly ‘Tiger’.
Kohli, Gambhir moved on from past differences
The Indian head coach and star batter Virat Kohli shared many heating moments on the field. The most recent was during the IPL 2023 when Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gambhir and Kohli were pulled apart by other players after an ugly spat at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium. But both shared a friendly hug and chatted for a long time during IPL 2024.
In his first press conference as Indian head coach, Gambhir assured fans that they both are on the same page and had the same goal for the Indian Cricket team.
“What kind of relationship do I share with Virat Kohli, I think it is between two mature individuals. On the field, everyone has got the right to fight for their own team, for their own jersey, and want to come back in a winning dressing room. But, at the moment, I think you are representing India and representing 140 crore Indians and I am sure we are going to be on the same page and try and make India proud” Gambhir said.
