New Delhi: Indian Cricket team will face Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, starting on September 19. Ahead of the first Test, the Indian cricketers have reached in Chennai. Several cricketers like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah were spotted making their way onto the team at the Chennai International Airport.
The ultimate aim for Team India will be the World Test Championship (WTC) and their campaign to earn a place in the final starts with the Test series against Bangladesh. After Bangladesh, The Men in Blue will face New Zealand in the three-match Test series in October. The last Test assignment of Rohit Sharma and Co. will be the five-match Test series against Australia in late November.
India and Bangladesh have already announced their squads for the series. For Team India, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant returned to the Test side. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be leading the pace attack and Akash Deep and Yash Dayal have earned their maiden call-up. Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are the four spinners in the squad.
Jaker Ali replaced injured pace bowler Shoriful Islam in Bangladesh’s squad for the Test series. Both teams last played a two-match Test series in 2018-19 where India defeated Bangladesh by 2-0. The first Test of the series will start in Chennai and the second Test will begin on September 27 in Kanpur. Head coach Gautam Gambhir will be keen to start his first Test assignment with a series win. After the Tests, Bangla Tigers will play three T20Is in Gwalior, Delhi and Hyderabad.
