New Delhi: Navdeep Singh returned to a hero’s welcome in India with his gold medal that he clinched at the Paris Paralympics 2024 in the men’s javelin throw F41 final event. He added a medal to India’s record-breaking haul of 29 medals in the French capital, notably bringing one of the seven golds back home. Since his return, he has been regularly visiting media houses and social media shows for interviews.
Navdeep, who was born with short stature, shot to fame for his wild celebrations, using cuss words to vent out his aggression while hitting a record mark during the final event. Nonetheless, he has become an overnight star in India and the moment has arrived for him after years of preparation and hard work. Like other athletes, he too sweated it out on the field to climb where he is today. He recently gave his take on the hot debate of sports vs studies, leaving everyone in shock by saying that studying is much easier than pursuing sports.
In a recent interview with Republic World Sports, Navdeep was asked about the hot question and he had a swift response to end the debate from his side. “Studies are easier as compared to sports. If I do a comparison, a person who studies will study for 5-6 hours a day but for us (athletes), it is training in the morning and in the evening,” Navdeep said.
“We sleep early in the evening because we have training the next morning and we sleep early during the day because we have training in the evening. We undertake that kind of diet and routine for years which comes with many restrictions as well. A person who studies has to open the book, study, close it, and then do all the fun stuff (chuckles). So… sports is very difficult as we have to be very disciplined,” the 23-year-old added.

As Kohli, who hails from Delhi, is well-known for his frequent use of strong language on the field while in action, Navdeep, who trained in Delhi, seemed to have picked up a thing or two about the city which is known for its aggression and humour. In the show, Navdeep picked Rohit Sharma over Kohli and MS Dhoni when asked about his favorite Indian cricketer.
Navdeep Singh recently opined on the much-debated topic of sports vs studies and the take is indeed hilarious. He bagged a gold medal at the Paralympics 2024 in men’s javelin F41 category. Other Sports Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
