New Delhi: Indian cricket icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni was recently spotted in the United States of America (USA), bonding with his close friends. The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper has been spending time with family and friends after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, where he was last seen in action.
Dhoni last took the field during CSK’s league match defeat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Fans are waiting with bated breath to know the fate of their superstar, who hasn’t made any decision yet on his IPL future.
Dhoni is making the most of his time away from the action. Away from the hustle and bustle of India, Dhoni was spotted bonding with his friends over an American football (NFL) game in Michigan. One of his friends, Hitesh Sanghvi, posted a video collage that showed the friends enjoying their time on an aeroplane and in the stands of a football stadium.
“Fun trip to michigan for American football and back…….with these amazing people,” Sanghvi shared a post on Instagram.
Dhoni’s IPL future
While Dhoni’s IPL future remains in the dark, there is a faint possibility of the legendary player making an appearance as an uncapped player.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering classifying retired international players as uncapped.
With the IPL 2025 player regulations and retention rules yet to be finalised, Dhoni said he would wait and see the implementation of the new rules before deciding on his future in the cash-rich league.
The franchise owners have been waiting patiently for the announcement of the new retention policy from the Indian Cricket Board.
Besides the retention rule, there is also a possibility of BCCI making changes to the much-debated and controversial Impact Player rule.
