New Delhi: Former Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling suffered an injury in his training ahead of his upcoming fight against Movasar Evloev at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City, US on October 6, Sunday. With his elbow injured in training, he apologized to Evloev that he was told not to compete at UFC 307 by the UFC medical staff team.
He didn’t serve a serious injury as he didn’t require any surgery but the medical team didn’t permit him to fight at UFC 307. Sterling also took his time to rehab but he will not recover on time as of now.
Unfortunately, I have to break the news I will not be competing in Salt Lake City at UFC 307,” Sterling said. “In sparring, I had an injury not requiring surgery, but I was advised by the UFC medical staff that I would not be able to properly compete in this sort of a turnaround.
Now it is clear that Sterling will not compete at UFC 307, but he will be in consideration before this year and also he wants to make his comeback before this year. It is also a loss to the UFC 307 card as one interesting fight goes down before the event. Now Dana White will announce the replacement fight and will add another fight to the UFC 307 event.
I did the stem cells. I took time off. I tried to rehab it as much as I can, as best as I can with the [UFC Performance Institute] team here, and unfortunately, it’s out of my hands now. I apologize to Movsar and his team. We’ve been talking and I was really looking forward to punching this guy in his face.” Sterling added.
