WATCH: Yashasvi Jaiswal takes a stunner in slips to dismiss Zakir Hasan in 1st Test

New Delhi: Team India youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal pulled off a brilliant catch at slips to help Jasprit Bumrah draw the first blood for India in Bangladesh’s second innings of the ongoing 1st Test between the two sides at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Bumrah dismissed Bangladesh opener Zakir Hasan in the 17th to break the opening stand between him and Shadman Islam.

Bangladesh got off to a good start in their second innings after India set up a mammoth target of 551 runs for the visitors in their second innings with the help of centuries from Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill. Openers Zakir and Islam looked well-composed in the middle as they saw off the Indian pacers with the new ball to stitch an important stand.

The duo made the Indian pacers toil hard for their wicket before Bumrah provided the breakthrough in the 17th over. The Indian pacer managed to induce an edge of Hasan and Jaiswal completed a sensational catch at slips. It was an outside-off delivery from Bumrah which kept low as Hasan mistimed his drive. The edge flew towards Jaiswal, who dived to his left to complete a stunner.

After Hasan’s dismissal, R Ashwin got India their second breakthrough as he got rid of his opening partner Islam on 35 to reduce Bangladesh to 86/2 in the 22nd over. It was Ashwin’s first wicket in the game as the off-spinner, who notched up his sixth Test century with the bat, went wicket-less in Bangladesh’s first innings.
