New Delhi: Matthew Potts dismissed Steve Smith with a brilliant delivery in the second ODI between England and Australia in Headingley, Leeds on September 21. The Aussies got off to a steady start as openers Travis Head and Matthew Short scored 41 runs in the first 8 overs.
Brydon Carse removed in-form batter Head on 29 runs and provided England their first breakthrough. Short was dismissed by Matthew Potts on 29 runs in the 12th over. Soon after, He also dismissed Steve Smith for just 6 runs and got his second wicket of the match.
Potts bowled a full delivery and kept it straight on the off stump, Smith was dragged to play a shot but the ball might’ve grazed the inside edge of the bat and crashed into the off-stump. The Australian batter failed to make an impact in the first two ODIs. He got a good start in the first ODI but Liam Livingstone dismissed on 32 runs.

Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh stitched a crucial 56-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Bethell removed both batters and put the visitors in more trouble. Marsh scored 60 runs off 59 balls, his remarkable knock was laced with six boundaries and three maximums.
Maxwell smashed a maximum on the first ball he faced but Adil Rashid dismissed him in the next over on just 7 runs. Aaron Hardy and Alex Carey stitched another fifty runs for the visitors. But Carse dismissed Hardie on 23 runs and ended their partnership. He also dismissed Mitchell Starc on a duck in the very next ball. Alex Carey scored his half-century in 47 balls and will look to add more runs on the scoreboard for Australia.

Australia defeated England by 7 wickets in the first ODI at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. England batted first and scored 315 runs in 49.4 overs. Ben Duckett scored 95 runs off 91 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and Will Jacks also scored 62 runs.
Chasing the target of 316 runs, Potts removed Mitchell Marsh in the fourth over but Travis Head batted brilliantly and scored an unbeaten 154 runs off 129 balls, his remarkable knock was laced with 20 boundaries and five maximums. Marnus Labuschagne also scored an unbeaten 77 runs as Australia chased down the target in 44 overs.
