New Delhi: Babar Azam faced the ire of the fans online after enduring another horror outing in the ongoing 1st Test between Pakistan and England at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan. Babar’s woeful run continued in Tests as he ended up missing out on a big knock once again after getting off to a start. On what looked like a belter of a pitch, Babar struggled against the England bowlers before getting dismissed on 30.
On what looked like a belter of a pitch in Multan, Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood slammed centuries apiece. However, Babar failed to capitalise as his lean patch continued in the longest format. The former Pakistan captain walked to bat at no.4 when Pakistan were in a strong position at 261/2 in their first innings.
It was a perfect opportunity for the star batter to bring an end to his woeful run with a big knock. While he did spend time in the middle, Babar could only score 30 off 71 balls before getting out. He was trapped lbw by Chris Woakes after a sluggish knock and was brutally trolled on social media for his poor show once again.

A lot of criticism of the pitch for being a road. Babar Azam has just made his contribution to distract the critics.

Babar’s last Test hundred for Pakistan came against New Zealand in Karachi in December 2022. He has now gone without scoring a half-century in his last 17 innings. Babar has managed to reach double figures in 15 of his last 17 Tests innings but has failed to breach the 50-run mark. The former Pakistan captain is enduring one of the worst lean patches in his career so far.
Pakistan post 328/4 on Day 1
Pakistan rode on skipper Masood’s terrific knock of 151 runs and Shafique’s 102 to post a strong total of 328/4 on the board at stumps on Day 1 of the 1st Test in Lahore. Making full use of the batting-friendly wicket in Multan, Masood and Shafique dominated the proceedings against the England bowlers with centuries apiece.
Saud Shakeel and night watchman Naseem Shah will resume Pakistan’s first innings on Day 2 of the 1st Test on Tuesday, October 08. Pakistan will be hoping to capitalise on the string start and post a big total on the board to pile pressure on the visitors.
