New Delhi: India won their maiden Chess Olympiad gold medal, in the open section, with D Gukesh shining bright in Budapest on Sunday.
D Gukesh defeated Russia’s Vladimir Fedoseev to confirm India’s historic gold while Arjun Erigaisi beat Serbian Jan Subelj on the final day of the event.
India secured at least a tie in their match against Slovenia as the maiden gold was secured when China faltered against the USA in their fixture.
