‘We know they’ll be aggressive’: Jos Buttler ready to face India in T20 World Cup semi-final

New Delhi: Team India will take on England in the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2024 at The Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 27.  The Men in Blue are undefeated in the tournament and will look to continue their winning streak against England.

Rohit Sharma and Co. played aggressive cricket in the ongoing tournament and didn’t let the run rate come down even after losing the wickets. Rohit scored 92 runs off 41 balls against Australia, his explosive knock was laced with  seven boundaries and eight maximums.

England captain Jos Buttler also talked about India’s aggressive approach and said that they’re playing against a very different team. He also praised Indian captain Rohit Sharma and said that he bats with a lot of freedom.

“We’re playing against very different India side here. The way Rohit leads his team and the way he bats, they play with a hell of a lot of freedom and try to be very aggressive,” Buttler was quoted as saying by The Standard.

He also said that India shifted their approach after the 2022 T20 World Cup and they played the same kind of cricket in the 2023 ODI World Cup as well. He also said that his team will also play aggressive cricket against the Men in Blue.
“That was probably a shift for them after that (2022) tournament and they played like that in the 50-over World Cup as well. They’re very confident in that style of play and we’ll have to be ready for that. We know they’ll be aggressive and we’ll be the same,” he added.

‘You can only control what you can control’: Jos Buttler

There are heavy chances of rain during the second semi-final in Guyana. According to Accuweather, there are 60-80 per cent chances of rain during the match and if rain spoils the match completely, India will advance to the final of the T20 World Cup due to their No.1 position in the Super 8 points table.

Jos Buttler said that as a team they can only control the controllable and they will be ready for any situation.

“You can only control what you can control. We’ll just have to wait and see and be ready for whatever situations arise. Generally, when people talk about the weather, you end up getting the full game in” he added.
