The city witnessed a sultry day on Tuesday with the maximum temperature soaring to 37.2 degrees Celsius, which was . 8 notches higher than the previous day = highest for the
month in Sept so far. It felt like a hot summer day.
The sultry weather conditions may continue for the next few days, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD)
IMD predicted that the maximum temperature for the next five days is likely to remain in the range of 34 and 35 degrees Celsius, while the mifimum temperature may fall between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius.
This means that the sultry weather conditions are expected to continue for a few more days, much to the dismay of the residents.
There is some relief in sight as isolated areas in the region are expected to experience light showers from Thursday An IMD official said, “Weather has been dry for Haryana on Monday. Gurgaon is likely to see partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers between Sept 26 and 30.”
The city’s air quality index (AQI) remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category on Tuesday at 71.
Meanwhile, a haze hung over Delhi on Tuesday as the national capital’s air quality deteriorated.
The average AQI worsened to the higher end of moderate’ category at 197 at 4pm. By 6pm, it entered the ‘poor’ category with an AQI of 201, rising to 204 by
8pm. The last time Delhi recorded a ‘poor air day was on June 12, when the AQI stood at 211.
