Bangladesh batted first in the opening match of the series and scored 127 runs in 19.5 overs. Indian bowlers did a fantastic job and took wickets at regular intervals. The left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh dismissed both the Bangladesh openers cheaply. Shanto and Towhid Hridoy tried to stitch a partnership but Washington Sundar dismissed Shanto on 27 runs.
Pace sensation Mayank Yadav removed Mahmudullah and picked up his first international wicket. Varun Chakravarthy also picked up three wickets and removed Towhid, Jaker Ali and Rishad Hossain.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz batted well and scored an unbeaten 35 runs off 32 balls. Chasing the 128-run target, Openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson provided a great start to the Men in Blue.
Abhishek got run out on 17 runs after a mix-up but Suryakumar and Sanju batted brilliantly and continued the attack on Bangladeshi bowlers. They stitched a 40-run partnership for the second wicket. Mustafizur Rahman removed Suryakumar on 29 runs but Hardik Pandya and Nitish Reddy’s 52-run partnership took the team over the line in just 11.5 overs.
