New Delhi: Liverpool are currently looking at a chance of missing Alisson Becker until late November international break. The shot-stopper sustained a hamstring injury during the Red’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday during the late second half.
Arne Slot opted for his third-preferred keeper, Vitezslav Jaros, who then made his debut in the Brazilian’s place. Alisson will be missing seven crucial games, including a home game against Chelsea, an away fixture with Arsenal, a home fixture with Bayer Leverkusen and an away fixture with RB Leipzig for the Champions League.

This is the second time this season that Becker will be out of action due to his hamstring. Liverpool will hope for the 32-year-old to return against Southampton and for their big Champions League showdown against Real Madrid. Alisson’s fitness has been a constant concern for the side. The former Roma keeper had missed ten games in the previous season due to injury and illness.
With Caoimhin Kelleher also on the sidelines due to injury, Jaros had a brilliant opportunity to handle the gloves for Liverpool. The Czech Republic international was impressive on his debut, keeping a clean sheet during a pressure situation. Now in recovery and expected to restart training with the team, Kelleher will be Liverpool’s starting keeper in Alisson’s absence.
This gives Kelleher more playing time, as he recently expressed his wish to be his side’s primary goalkeeper. The Republic of Ireland shot-stopper had mentioned his wish to move from Liverpool to a club where he is the primary goalkeeper. Throughout the summer, Kelleher had garnered interest from other clubs, but his wish to feature as the primary keeper meant many of the offers were rejected beforehand.
Alisson Becker will remain on sidelines until end of international break in November, with Caoimhin Kelleher likely to take over glove duties. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
