Cameron Green likely to be ruled out of Border-Gavaskar trophy due to back injury

New Delhi: In a major blow for Australia, star player Cameron Green is set to miss the all-important Border-Gavaskar trophy against India in the month of November. Green suffered a severe back injury recently during the recent Australia-England series and is set to be ruled out for the entire upcoming summer.

Although, nothing is confirmed till now but the player is quite certain to miss the five-match Test series against India. Green suffered a sore back after the third ODI of the five-match series against England in September and was then ruled out of the five-game series. Australia media reported on Thursday that if at all Green is able to participate in the Border-Gavaskar trophy, he will only play as a batter and not fulfil his all-round capabilities.

Green certain to get ruled out of first India Test

According to a report in cricketetal.com, Green has almost no chance of being fit for the first Test match of the series against India beginning in Perth on November 22. The extent of his injury has become worse than expected and he will no way play the series opener. There’s a slight hope that the Aussie all-rounder will participate in any of the other four matches but that also seems difficult.

Cricket Australia’s medical and high performance team is trying their level best to ensure that Green does not have to undergo a surgery and recovers through going in for the tough procedure. Meanwhile, surgery is the only legitimate option that can recover him fully and help him get back on the field. Meanwhile, Green is back in Australia and trying to recover from the back soreness.

Cameron Green is most likely to miss the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to a back injury suffered during the England ODI series in September.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
