New Delhi: England’s interim manager Lee Carsley will not change his attacking approach when England take on Finland next in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday. He is all ready to experiment again despite the surprise defeat at the hands of Greece that dented the chances of him losing the role permanently.
The Three Lions enjoyed a great start to the Nations League campaign under Carsley with wins before setback at Wembley. His experiment of fielding five attackers without an out and out striker backfired badly as they lost 2-1 to Greece.
England will look to bounce back stronger in the upcoming fixture in Helsinki this weekend with Carsley in no mood of making any changes in the attacking approach. He said, “The way I want my teams to play, I want us to attack and when we had the players we have available, I wanted to try something different.”
Carsley even suggested that he would not have gone with the system without the No.9 Harry Kane. His tactical plan got hatched at short notice as Kane sustained a minor injury for Bayern Munich. The long serving captain is pushing to make a return after missing the Greece match.

Lee acknowledges the potential of fielding Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, and Cole Palmer together but has reserved about trying this combination again on Sunday. He noted, “I have coached enough to know we need to do something different,” emphasizing that had Kane been available, he might have explored alternative strategies.
Jack Grealish, is expected to make a comeback in the squad against Finland who was also out due to injury. Carsley will be happy as the attacking midfielder will be available for the Sunday clash. Despite the recent setback he remains focused on his role and reiterated, “The remit was to do the three camps, and nothing has changed.”
Carsley reflected on his approach, mentioning that he doesn’t allow himself to get too emotional after wins or losses, insisting, “I have definitely not felt that it’s mine to lose.” He even expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him during this interim period and remains committed to his responsibilities without altering his focus.
Aiming to respond on Sunday 👊

Lee Carsley as England’s permanent manager?
The defeat against Greece has raised eyebrows around Lee Carsley getting the England job but it is expected that the Football Association won’t decide his fate on one game, one roll of the dice that went wrong. Currently, Carsley is operating under a confidential process with no anticipated decision regarding his future before the conclusion of his interim tenure. After facing Finland, he will oversee the last two fixtures of the Nations League campaign in November against Greece in Athens and the Republic of Ireland at Wembley.
When questioned about the perception that he might be at job loss, Carsley clarified, “I have definitely not felt that.” He emphasized his efforts to remain transparent about his role, expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him.
With changes likely in his starting XI against Finland including potential returns for defenders Kyle Walker, Marc Guehi and Jack Grealish, there’s optimism surrounding Harry Kane’s involvement after he trained on Friday further buoying team morale ahead of the crucial encounter in Helsinki.
Lee Carsley remains defiant after England’s shock loss to Greece, vowing to stick to his attacking philosophy. Will the bold approach pay off? Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
