New Delhi: Officials of the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune apologised to the fans on Friday after lack of drinking water sparked protests on the first day of the second Test match between India and New Zealand. On the first day of the second Test at the MCA, Pune, fans protested against the authorities after they could not get enough water to drink.
On a day when Pune witnessed scorching heat, fans were left angry which triggered protests regarding the lack of basic amenities and facilities kept in place by the richest cricket board in the world, the BCCI. In addition, fans who expected free drinking water at the stadium were supplied with water bottles which were sold at exorbitant prices, irking them further.

MCA apologises on Friday
A day later on Friday, the MCA responded to the protests and apologised to the fans for the inconvenience caused to them on Thursday. The MCA also said that they have taken a note of this issues and it won’t be repeated in the future. MCA secretary Kamlesh Pisal assured that the authorities would be focused towards providing the best facilities in the coming days.
“We can only apologise to the fans for inconvenience caused. But we want to assure them, through MCA, that this won’t be repeated, and everything will be taken care of,” said Pisal to reporters.
Around 1 lakh litres of RO water in 20-litre cans were arranged for the second day’s play on Friday, well distributed among the booths to avoid the lapse on the first day. As many as 3,800 bottles for 20 litre each have been made available for use on the second day as it remains hot and humid on Friday, while many are kept for back-up as well.
