New Delhi: New Zealand beat India by 76 runs in the second ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Whiteferns levelled the three-match ODI series after the dominating display in all three departments. Chasing the target of 260 runs, The Women in Blue lost early wickets against the new ball and bundled out for 183 runs in 47.1 overs.
Lea Tahuhu removed Smriti Mandhana on a duck in the first over while Jess Kerr dismissed Shafali Verma on 11 runs. Lea Tahuhu struck again and removed Yastika Bhatia on 12 runs. Captain Sophie Devine picked up two wickets and removed Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues cheaply. Tejal Hasabnis and Deepti Sharma also failed to contribute with the bat and only managed to score 15 runs each.
Radha Yadav stitched a 70-run partnership with Saima Thakor and helped the team fight back in the match but Sophie Devine and Jess Kerr dismissed both batters and New Zealand levelled the three-match ODI series at 1-1. Tahuhu and Sophie Devine picked up three wickets each while Jess Kerr and Eden Carson also took two wickets each.

Devine, Bates star with the bat for New Zealand
Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer stitched an 87-run partnership for the opening wicket, after opting to bat first. Bates scored 58 runs off 70 balls and Plimmer scored 41 runs off 50 balls. Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma removed both the openers but Sophie Devine batted brilliantly and scored 79 runs off 86 balls, her remarkable knock was laced with seven fours and one maximum.
Maddy Green also amassed crucial 42 runs off 41 balls. For India, Radha Yadav picked up 4 wickets while Deepti Sharma also took two wickets. The last and final ODI of the series will be played on Tuesday, October 29 at the same venue.
