New Delhi: Patna Pirates announced their new captain for season 11. Shubham Shine will lead the three-time PKL champion Patna in season 11. The right corner defender is just 26 years old and has the biggest opportunity to lead a successful franchise. Ankit will be the vice-captain of Pirates in season 11. Pirates finished the last season in the third position and were inches away from their record fourth PKL glory.
Shubham has played over 100 PKL matches and is a well-experienced team player. Shubham also played for Pirates in season 8 but in season 9 they released him and now bought him for Rs. 70 lakhs in the auction. Shubham has a unique defense style which gave him an edge in the defense.
Patna is the most successful franchise in PKL history winning the title three consecutive times and was runner-up in season 8. They also finished the previous edition in the third place. Patna has a formidable group ahead of the new season like Ankit, Sandeep, Ayan, Deepak, Manish, Sudhakar M, Jang Kun Lee, and more.
The all-rounder was retained by the franchise which gave him the vice-captaincy. He played just 25 matches in PKL but his speed and agility have been an asset to his team. Ankit debuted in the previous season itself and now he has been given a great opportunity by his team.
Shubham scored 67 points in the last season with Bengal Warriorz in 22 matches. Meanwhile, Ankit didn’t have a great season with raiding as he just scored 66 points in 23 matches. Both have been given a big responsibility ahead of this season and will look to lift the fourth title for the Pirates.
The CEO of Patna team Pawan Rana, announced the new captain and vice-captain. Pawan also stated that he wants to promote quality Kabaddi to the fans and their supporters. He is also hoping that Patna will lift the title for the fourth time.
