New Delhi: Australia will lock horns with Pakistan in the third and final ODI of the series at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday. The hosts had taken a 1-0 lead after winning the first game but Pakistan turned things around for themselves in the second match, levelling the three-match series 1-1. The things now go to the decider which will be an exciting affair between the two cricketing giants.
It has already come to light that wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis will lead Australia in the absence of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh. Cummins, along with Test regulars, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Steven Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne is rested for the third one-dayer while Marsh is currently on paternity leave. With the core of the Kangaroos missing, it will be interesting to see how Inglis will work things out on the field.
In the first ODI, Pakistan had posted 203 in 46.4 overs which Australia chased down just in 33.3 overs. Although the Pakistani bowlers made their lives tough, Cummins shone with his defence and took the team over the line in some fashion with two wickets in hand. The second ODI was a low-scorer as Australia mustered 163 all-out in 35 overs. In response, Pakistan easily chased down the target in 26.3 overs with their scoreboard at 169/1.
