New Delhi: Amid the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 row, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed Pakistan as the host of the big ICC event. The much-awaited ICC event has been in the news since last few months after India’s denial to travel to the neighbouring nation due to long-standing political differences between the two countries.
However, the apex cricketing body announced a brand-new visual identity for the men’s and women’s ICC Champions Trophy. This comes after India’s blunt refusal to travel to Pakistan for the event early next year. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9 2025 but the Indian government has not allowed its team to travel across the border.
Pakistan says no to hybrid model
The same was communicated to the apex cricket body by the BCCI, and the ICC conveyed the same to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which asked for an explanation from the Indian cricket board and a justification for the refusal. Meanwhile, Pakistan has maintained the stance of not being in favour of a hybrid model, saying that all the matches will take place in their country. In between all this drama, the ICC floated a video online confirming the Asian nation as the host.

It has been reported that the Pakistan government has told the PCB not to move any game outside the country and they are strict on this. In last year’s Asia Cup, Pakistan had to bow down and agree for a hybrid model after India refused to travel for the ACC event. Later, Sri Lanka was roped in as a co-host for the event. Reports also suggest that despite ICC’s promise of Pakistan getting the entire hosting fee, the PCB seems to be adamant on the same.
