New Delhi: India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma congratulated Rohit Sharma after the Indian Test and ODI captain became father to a baby boy on Friday. Rohit and his wife Ritika Sajdeh were blessed with their second child in Mumbai and took to social media to share the joyful news with their fans and followers.
Rohit is currently on a break to be with his wife and the rest of his family after the arrival of their second child and there remain doubts over his participation in the 1st Test between India and Australia in Perth which gets underway in Perth on November 22. Rohit was training for the series in Mumbai and is yet to join the rest of the Indian squad in Australia.
After the good news of his son’s birth, Team India stars Suryakumar, Samson and Tilak sent a special message to Rohit following the Men in Blue’s thumping 135-run victory against South Africa in the 4th T20I of the four-match series. Tilak, who starred in India’s victory against the Proteas, congratulated Rohit and promised to meet him soon to see his baby boy.
“I am really really happy, Rohit bhai. Ye moment ke lie wait kar rahe the. Agar ek adha din late ho jaata to main pahuch jaata waha pe. Aar raha hu jaldi dekhne ke lie. (We were waiting for his moment. If it was late by a day or two, I would have been there. I am coming soon to see you),” Tilak said during an interaction with Suryakumar and Samson in a video shared by the BCCI.
“Very very happy for Chetta (elder brother) and his family,” said Samson while congratulating Rohit.
Suryakumar then came up with a cheeky message for Rohit as he told Samson and Tilak that they might need to arrange small pads and a side arm for the little one. “Aaur lagta hum logon ko abhi ready hona padega ek chota side-arm aaur ek chote-chote pad sab leke jaana padega. Naya cricketer aaur ek aaya hai. (We should get ready with little side arm and pad as a new cricketer has come),” said Suryakumar.

Tilak, Samson decimate South Africa in 4th T20I
Tilak and Samson smashed centuries apiece to help India decimate South Africa in the 4th T20I and clinch the series 3-1. Tilak slammed an unbeaten 120 off just 47 balls laced with 10 sixes and 9 fours while Samson hammered 109 off 56 balls studded with 9 sixes and 6 fours. The duo were involved in a sensational unbeaten stand of 210 runs for the 2nd wicket to help India post a mammoth 283 runs on the board in 20 overs.
Tilak became the first Indian batter to smash two centuries in a bilateral T20I series and joined Samson in becoming the 2nd Indian to slam back-to-back hundreds in T20Is. Tilak won both the Player of the Match award in the 4th T20I and the Player of the Series for his heroics against the Proteas.
