New Delhi: Indian women’s hockey team snatched two goals in the last quarter against Japan to cruise into the final of the women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024. India remained gritty till the last quarter, with Navneet Kaur breaking the deadlock, just 12 minutes before the close of play, converting a brilliant penalty stroke while Lalremsiami added a brilliant field goal to seal a 2-0 win.
This was unbeaten India’s sixth win on the trot. The Indian women’s team will face China in the final on Wednesday. Earlier, Team India begun their campaign on a remarkable note beating Malaysia 4-0 in the opener and followed it up with a 3-2 victory over South Korea in their second match. The Women in Blue hammered Thailand 13-o in their third encounter of the event while registered another 3-0 win over China, which took them to the semifinals.
India’s women’s team topped the group with a dominant 3-0 win over Japan in their last group fixture.
