Easwaran has started where he left off last season, continuing his sensational form following an unbeaten double century in Bengal’s final Ranji match against Bihar in the 2023/24 campaign.
The 29-year-old batter has averaged an astonishing 70-plus this year, scoring over 1,000 runs in just 16 innings.
His consistent performances have made him a strong candidate for the Australia Test tour.
Will Easwaran receive maiden India call-up?
Reports are rife that the India skipper Rohit Sharma will miss the first Test against Australia in Perth due to personal reasons. In his absence, Easwaran has emerged as a strong candidate to take the reserve opener spot for India.
Easwaran has been one of the most consistent performers on the domestic circuit in the last few seasons. In 98 First Class matches, he averages over 50 with over 7,500 runs to his name including 27 centuries and 29 fifties.
Since 2020, he has scored 3163 runs in 58 innings at a stunning average of over 60 on the back of 14 centuries and a double hundred.
He has scored centuries in South Africa and Bangladesh for the India A side and against New Zealand A in India. The prolific batter has also notched up centuries in all 3 major FC tournaments in India – Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup.
