New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) snapped their four-match losing streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with the help of their swashbuckling opener Abhishek Sharma, who went hammer and tongs and blasted 141 off just 55 deliveries on Saturday. The team took on Punjab Kings (PBKS) at their home ground – the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and returned to winning ways, effortlessly chasing down 246.
Abhishek, who was on a low run of form this season along with his fellow rioter Travis Head, he finally clicked and exploited the PBKS bowling attack, making a mockery of them by hitting them all over the park. The target was indeed respectable as Punjab Kings didn’t do any wrong on their part with their skipper Shreyas Iyer (82 off 36) continuing his purple patch for them.
The young left-handed batter caught the attention of every single person present at the Uppal ground when he pulled a note out of his pocket and showed it to the SRH dug-out and to the whole arena as a part of his century celebration. The note read, “This one is for Orange Army”, as he dedicated his blazing ton to his team which was riding on a four-match losing streak.
Record night for SRH
SRH broke the wheel in some fashion and in the quick process, also accounted for completing the second-highest run chase in the history of IPL. They surpassed the Rajasthan Royals (RR), who earlier held the position jointly with themselves, having chased 224 two times before. They now move to the joint-third spot and the second position has now been acquired by the Orange Army.
