New Delhi: The National Resistance Front (NRF) of Afghanistan, also known as the Second Resistance, has reportedly claimed responsibility for carrying out an assassination bid on former US President and Republican nominee Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The alleged members of the extremists outfit, the NRF Anti-Taliban Resistance, on Sunday, released a video, reportedly claiming responsibility for the attack on Trump on the order of their commander Ahmad Massoud. In the purported video, which is being highly circulated on social media, the duo seen in the video, have also allegedly threatened to carry out a similar attack on United States President Joe Biden.
In the 12-second video, which was being circulated vastly on social media, the two armed men allegedly claimed to be carrying out firing on Donald Trump at a rally. The speaker, who reportedly identified himself as Raees Ajmal, a commander of the resistance, claimed that Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the NRF anti-Taliban resistance, ordered the attack on Trump.
Suspects Threaten Similar Attack on US President Joe Biden
They further asserted that they had also planned to assassinate US President Joe Biden and threatened to carry out a similar attack on Americans in the coming days.
Meanwhile, a probe has been launched to ascertain the truth behind the purported video of the issuing threat. It is being said that the duo were not identified as the members of the outfit they claimed in the video.
However, no official confirmation, from the US federal agencies, or any other agencies have surfaced regarding the video. Republic Media Network too doesn’t claim about the authority and genuineness of the video and claims made in it.
Notably, the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, also known as the Second Resistance, is a military alliance of former Northern Alliance members and other anti-Taliban fighters loyal to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The founder and president of NRF is Ahmad Massoud.
7 Rounds Were Fired At Donald Trump‘s Rally
The video surfaced hours after an assassination attempt was carried out by a youth identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks (20) on former US President Donald Trump, while the latter was addressing a campaign rally in Pennsylvania’s Butler. During the assassination bid, the accused allegedly fired at least 7 rounds targeting Trump at the rally attended by hundreds of citizens.
Trump was hit by a bullet, which pierced through his right ear leaving him bleeding as his security guards rescued from the site. During the indiscriminate firing, one attendee was killed and the other sustained severe injuries.
The 20-year-old shooter was immediately neutralised by the Secret Services agents, seconds after he fired at the ex-US president.
