New Delhi: Pakistan have recalled all-rounder Aamer Jamal and spinner Abrar Ahmed for their second Test against Bangladesh that begins on Friday after facing an embarrassing defeat in the first game in Rawalpindi.
Pakistan crashed to a 10-wicket loss, their first ever defeat after 12 wins and a draw against Bangladesh that has led to an all-round criticism of the team.
It has led to the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi promising major changes in the set-up to overturn the poor form that the team has plunged into.
It includes calling up Jamal to the team from the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, having released him from the squad before the first Test.
His suspect fitness was cited as the reason he was released from the team and sent to the NCA for undergoing rehabilitation, after he returned in June midway from his English County stint.
Now the PCB is mulling him as replacement of Salman Ali Agha in the playing XI if he clears the fitness certificate.
Abrar and Ghulam also called up
Pakistan have also called up spinner Abrar and batter Kamran Ghulam for the team, having released them earlier to play for Pakistan Shaheens team against Bangladesh A in a List A game in Islamabad.
Abrar is expected to take the place of Muhammad Ali in the playing XI, having received stringent criticism for not playing with a specialist spinner in the first Test.
Pakistan went in with four pacers, a move that backfired as they failed to negotiate Bangladeshi spinners.
“The idea is to strengthen the bowling options by playing Abrar and Jamal who also bats well and would fit in at number seven instead of Salman Ali Agha,” a team source said, as quoted by PTI.
