AIFF bans Anwar Ali for 4 months, Mohun Bagan to get Rs 12.90 crore as compensation

New Delhi: The All India Football Federation banned Anwar Ali for four months on Tuesday for unjust termination of his loan contract with Mohun Bagan, who are also eligible for compensation of Rs 12.90 crore.

The amount will have to be paid by Ali, his parent club club during the controversial transfer Delhi FC and East Bengal, with whom he entered in to a new, lucrative deal after unilaterally terminating his contract.

The AIFF’s player status committee had previously ruled that Ali’s move was without any just cause though he was allowed to return to Delhi FC from Bagan and sign for EB.

The PSC then heard deputations from all the three involved parties before deciding on the quantum of punishment, which also included Delhi FC and East Bengal being banned from registering players for two transfer windows.

Anwar Ali was suspended for 4 months with the AIFF also banning Delhi FC and East Bengal from two transfer windows and together with the defender will have to pay Rs 12.90 crore compensation to Mohun Bagan.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
