New Delhi: UFC Light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira stood supreme again by knocking out Khalil Rountree Jr. at the UFC 307 in the Delta Centre, Salt Lake City, Utah on October 6, Sunday. It was the fourth win for the champion in a year and the third TKO victory in spam of six months.
Rountree Jr. started the fight well off by with quick-fire punches, countering leg kicks of Pereira. Pereira was searching angles in the first round to stomp Rountree Jr. but whenever Pereira kicked him, Rountree Jr. countered him with punches. The first round was easily won by the challenger and he did the same in the second round by depending much on his speed and counterstrikes.

Pereira hit some shots in the second round by didn’t affect much the challenger. Pereira also finished his last three fights under two rounds, this was the first time he was heading to the third round of the fight. Rountree opened the round with two good left jabs but Pereira hit a high kick to Rountree and then he dominated the round.
Pereira was showing his class in the third round by pressurising Rountree to stand back and only defending himself. Rountree at the end of the round was looking frustrated as he gave a chance to the champion to come back in the fight. Pereira struck a lightning-fast jab and then a leg kick to the challenger. Rountree Jr. felt the damage as he ate some jabs early on and was bloodied in the round.
Rountree Jr. then just threw punches in the air and looked only to TKO Pereira but Pereira was looking sharp and waited for his moment to finish Rountree Jr. and at last hit a jab and a combination of body shots and dropped Rountree Jr. won the fight via TKO.
