New Delhi: NSE Indices launched India’s first index focused on the EV industry in the form of Nifty EV and New Age Automotive Index, it said in an official statement. The index will track business performance in the EV space apart from companies involved in new age automotive vehicles as well as related technology.
NSe will set April 2, 2018 as the base date for this index with a starting value of 1,000. The index will be reconstituted twice a year and rebalanced every quarter. The move is part of NSE’s efforts to align with market trends, said NSE Indices CEO, Mukesh Agarwal. The Nifty EV and NEA index is likely to be used by asset managers and passive funds such as ETFs and index funds.
NSE cited the policy push from the Indian government regarding EV adoption as well as the promotion of India as a manufacturing hub as providing a fillip to the country’s EV ecosystem.
