Mumbai: Amalaki Ekadashi, an important Hindu festival, will be observed on March 10, 2025 (Monday). Celebrated during the Shukla Paksha of the Phalguna month, this auspicious day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and the sacred Amla (Indian gooseberry) tree. Devotees observe a strict fast and perform rituals to seek good health, prosperity, and divine blessings. The festival holds great religious significance, as it is believed that observing the Amalaki Ekadashi vrat (fast) leads to spiritual upliftment and a place in Vaikuntha (Lord Vishnu’s divine abode).

The festival is also known as Rangbhari Ekadashi, especially in Varanasi, as it marks the beginning of Holi celebrations. According to mythology, on this day, Lord Shiva arrived in Kashi for the first time after marrying Goddess Parvati. Devotees celebrate this event by offering colours (gulal and abir) to Lord Shiva, signifying joy and marital bliss. In Varanasi, the festival kicks off six days of Holi festivities, with devotees engaging in vibrant celebrations and spiritual rituals.
