New Delhi: Amid the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 row between India and Pakistan, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the schedule for the 2024 Men’s 50-over U19 Asia Cup, lining up a clash between the arch-rivals. India will play their opening match of the tournament against Asian rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on November 30.
The tournament will be held from November 29 to December 8 in Dubai and Sharjah, with the limelight being the India-Pakistan contest. The U19 Indian team will play its Group A matches against Japan and hosts’ UAE in Sharjah on December 2 and 4 respectively. The top two teams from Group A and B will lock horns with each other in the semifinals of the event on December 6 in Dubai and Sharjah, with the final taking place on December 8 in Dubai.

Reigning champions Bangladesh in Group B
Reigning champions Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Nepal are part of Group B, with the opening fixture of the tournament between Bangladesh and Afghanistan on November 29, a day ahead of the hot India-Pakistan drama. The Bangla Tigers are the defending champions after beating UAE in the final by 195-run margin last year. Meanwhile, India is the most successful team in the Men’s U19 Asia Cup with eight titles, while Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan have earned a title each. The first day of the tournament will also see a clash between Sri Lanka and Nepal.
This is the 11th edition of the Men’s U19 Asia Cup, with the tournament being played in Bangladesh for the first time in 1989. Japan, Nepal and UAE entered the main tournament in 2024 by the virtue of qualifying from the 2023 ACC Men’s Under-19 Premier Cup.
