New Delhi: Flamboyant Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was recently spotted with Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal amid rumours of him moving to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The meeting between the two comes at a very crucial point when the IPL teams are finalising the retention list for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.
Although the conversation both had remains undisclosed but it is being said that owner Jindal must have persuaded Pant to be with the Capitals side for the 2025 edition. The rumours of Pant moving away from the Capitals to the Super Kings is being discussed widely as the latter are looking for a replacement for MS Dhoni who might have featured in his last season in 2024.
Meeting kept ahead of Pant’s departure
Although, nothing has been officially said about Dhoni’s exit but the legendary cricketer is almost certain to call it quits sooner or later. The meeting was kept ahead of Pant’s departure to Chennai for the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh. India host the Bangla Tigers for a two-game Test series starting from September 19 in Chennai.
Pant’s journey with DC
Rishabh Pant’s journey in the Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride. The wicketkeeper-batter, who joined the franchise in 2016, eventually attained heights as he was named the skipper of the Capitals unit in 2020 after Shreyas Iyer’s injury.
Though under his leadership, the Capitals failed to reach the playoffs in the last edition but the franchise continues to show faith in him. He received immense support for the team following his fatal car crash which kept his out of cricketing action for over an year.
