New Delhi: Haryana Steelers moved to the top of the points table in the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League season 11 after outsmarting U Mumba 48-39 in the match no.48 played at the Noida Indoor Stadium in Noida on Monday. As the PKL season has moved to the northern side of the country from Hyderabad in the south, the Haryana outfit has repeatedly made progress in the standings.
On Sunday, the Jaideep Dahiya-led side posted a thumping victory over Gujarat Giants with a heavy margin of 39-23. Another day and Haryana were up for another brilliant win, though a bit challenging in the middle. The PKL 2023-24 runners-up won in the end despite star all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui being shown the yellow card when the match was just 1 minute and 48 seconds away, and Steelers were leading by six points.
Vishal Tate and Shivam Patare picked 11 points to power Haryana in the lead with Shadloui picked a total of 10 points (4 in raid and six in tackle). The win takes Haryana Steelers to 31 points from eight matches, leapfrogging defending champions Puneri Paltan on the points table. U Mumba, on the other hand, dropped down to the third spot with 29 points from nine matches.

Patna Pirates all-round brilliance beats Gujarat Giants in lopsided contest
Patna Pirates returned to winning ways with an all-round performance which secured the three-time PKL champions a buoyant 40-27 win over Gujarat Giants. Ayan Lohchab was the star player for the Pirates once again with 10 points – including three tackle points – while Devank Dalal and Sandeep finished with 6 and 5 points, respectively.
As the first half came to a close, the Pirates got themselves back into the game, equalising the score and then getting the opposition ‘All Out’ with two minutes remaining until the end of the half. This was enough to allow the Patna outfit to take a 21-16 lead at the end of the first 20 minutes.
As the match came to a close, Mohit, for the Gujarat Giants, scalped a super tackle but it was not enough as the they suffered a 13-point loss when the final whistle was blown.
This win helped Patna move three spots up the ladder to secure the fourth place with a total of 27 points from eight matches.
