AP CM Chandrababu Naidu delivers pension to beneficiaries in person in Penumaka village

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu delivered increased pensions to beneficiaries in Penumaka village, Mangalagiri Assembly constituency of Guntur district on Sunday and interacted with many residents of the village.

More than 65 lakh pensioners will receive their pensions on July 1. The NTR Bharosa pensions have been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 and arrears for the last three months i.e; April, May June, amounting to Rs 7,000 will be disbursed to all beneficiaries.

Ministers in the cabinet, MPs and MLAs will also take part in distributing the pensions on Monday, July 1.

The beneficiaries include old widows, toddy tappers, handloom workers, transgenders, fishermen and artists and will receive Rs 4,000 as pension while physically challenged will receive a revised pension of Rs 6,000.

The additional burden on the exchequer due to this revision is over Rs 819 crore per month and the total amount being distributed per month is at Rs 4,408 crore. To clear the due of the last three months, the state government is spending Rs 1,650 crore.

The previous government spent Rs 1,939 crore per annum for pensions while the TDP has to spend Rs 34,000 crore per annum.
