Arjun Tendulkar sends roaring message to IPL franchises with maiden first-class fifer

New Delhi: Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, made a statement on Wednesday after he picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket for Goa against Arunachal Pradesh in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. Arjun ran through the Arunachal batters, putting his team Goa in a commanding position of the first day of action.

Arjun, who was released by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians couple of weeks back during the announcement of the retention and released list, send a roaring message to all the IPL franchises ahead of the mega auction 2025. The 2025 mega auction will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, where franchises will get a chance to complete their respective sides and with Arjun showcasing his class just days ahead, the Mumbai lad has a bright chance of getting picked up by any of the franchises.

Arunachal Pradesh bowled for paltry 84

With the help of his maiden five-wicket haul, Goa ended the first day on top as they bowled out Arunachal Pradesh for a paltry score of just 84 runs. Arjun claimed figures of 5/25, dismissing players like Neelam Obi, Nabam Hachang, Chinmay Patil, Jay Bhavsar and Moji Ete. He was supported by Mohit Redkar and Keith Pinto with 3 and 2 wickets respectively as the entire Arunachal side folded in 30.3 overs.

Meanwhile, Arjun made his IPL debut in 2023 for Mumbai Indians and picked a total of three wickets in four matches in the entire season. In the 2024 season, Mumbai acquired his services again for Rs 30 lacs but he played just a lone match in the entire season with no wickets. Ahead of the auction this season, he was released by the franchise. Arjun, in all likelihood, will be part of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Time will only tell that which teams decides to take his service for the 18th edition of the cash-rich league.
