New Delhi: As Premier League action returns after two weeks gap for international break, Liverpool will come back into action without the services their midfielder Harvey Elliot, who’s recovering from a fractured foot. Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Elliot will be unavailable for several weeks.
The news comes as Liverpool prepare for three exhausting weeks, during which the club will play seven games across competitions. Slot has said that he is hoping that Alexis Mac Allister will be back for Saturday’s game as they host Nottingham Forest. In addition to the Argentinian, Curtis Jones has returned to training with the club after missing the last two games for Liverpool due to a muscle problem.
Arne Slot on Harvey Elliott’s injury:
🗣️- Harvey is of course a big disappointment for him but not only for him, also for us because OK, he didn’t play that much in the first three games but he played a lot in pre-season and he showed himself really well so, of course, if he had… pic.twitter.com/a9I5mBRMxM

Speaking on Elliot’s injury Slot commented on the big setback for the club as the midfielder was performing well in the preseasons for Liverpool, though he didn’t get lot of minutes to play in the first three games. Slot further added that the 21 year old midfielder was supposed to get “a lot of playing time” but that he will be replaced due to the injury.
How the squad shaping for the upcoming games
Since the arrival of Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliot hasn’t been considered as an attacking midfielder or a no. 10. In the only game he played this season, he didn’t feature in the starting XI.
Liverpool have started this season quite strongly as they are one of the two sides, that have won their first three games this season, with the other team being Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Slot has definitely started his maiden season with Liverpool quite strong as he takes the reins from their long-time manager Jurgen Klopp. However he will have a few issues he will be facing with his squad.
There’s still no news on the contracts of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Slot dodged the question. After Caoimhin Kelleher’s recent comments on wishing to be the primary goalkeeper for any club, Slot acknowledged that the shot-stopper has been brilliant every time he was required to be on the pitch. He concluded that Kelleher could be playing in the future, but Alisson Becker will be the club’s primary goalkeeper.
Elliot has only played one game for Liverpool this season despite an impressive preseason outing with the team. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
