New Delhi: Monsoon season brings the long-awaited relief from the scorching heat, but it comes with its own set of problems such as health problems like diarrhoea, flu, cold and cough. Moreover, the humidity tends to increase during monsoon and this triggers arthritis pain in some individuals. People often complain about experiencing increased hip problems and arthritis during monsoon. Various environmental and lifestyle factors can worsen your symptoms causing discomfort and distress.
Dr Anup Khatri, senior Consultant- Orthopedics, Gleneagles Hospital, Parel, Mumbai shared with News9,” The sudden shift in temperature and increases in atmospheric pressure can take a heavy toll on your joints and cause pain. This can easily trigger your arthritis and lead to symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and restricted mobility.”
“Transitional shifts in the weather can severely affect your joints and their fluid consistency. This can significantly worsen the pain especially if you are suffering through conditions like osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Another major cause contributing to arthritis and hip problems during monsoon is an increase in humidity levels.” People are also less likely to step out of their houses due to heavy rains which can impact their mobility and reduced sun exposure can decrease vitamin D stores in the body. Physical inactivity can harm your joint health and restrict smooth blood flow.
