New Delhi: Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem dominated the proceedings and won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw final at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 on Saturday, May 31. Arshad, the reigning Olympic champion, won gold with a strong throw of 86.40m. India’s Sachin Yadav won the silver medal with his personal best effort.
Two Indians – Sachin and Yashvir Singh competed in the men’s javelin final and produced their best-ever efforts at the Asian Athletics Championships. However, their efforts were not enough to better Nadeem’s throw of 86.40m. Sachin produced an impressive throw of 85.16m in his final attempt to bag the second spot on the podium and bag the silver medal. Meanwhile, Yashvir finished 5th with his personal best throw of 82.57m.
Taking part in his first competition of the season in his first outing since the Paris Olympics 2024, Pakistan’s Nadeem started slow but managed to breach the 85m mark in his third attempt to take the lead. Arshad threw 86.40m in his final fifth attempt to win gold. Meanwhile, Sachin, who threw 83.08 in his 4th attempt, produced a 85.16m throw in his final attempt to finish second.
