Astonishing! Kamindu Mendis on par with Don Bradman after hitting 5 tons in 8 Tests

New Delhi: Kamindu Mendis continued his remarkable run in Test cricket with another century in the ongoing series against New Zealand. Mendis produced another masterclass on Day 2 of the second Test against the Kiwis at the Galle International Stadium, Galle.

The Sri Lankan batter played a marathon knock of 182 not out from 250 balls including 16 fours and four maximums to help the home side post total of 602 for 5d in 163.4 overs.

In the process, Mendis became the fastest Asian cricketer to record five Test centuries. He also equalled the legendary Australian cricketer Don Bradman in two major Test records.

He is now on par with Bradman who also reached 1000 Test runs in 13 innings. Mendis broke former India batter Vinod Kambli’s 14 innings record to become the fastest Asian to reach the milestone.
