New Delhi: World No.11 Stefanos Tsitsipas won the opening round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Monday. The Greek tennis player defeated Lorenzo Sonego of Italy in straight games 7-6 (4), 6-3 to advance to the the following stage in the event.
There was only one contest which was pushed to a three-setter match, which was played between Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain and Fabian Marozsan 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4).

Alexei Popyrin of Australia, Russia’s Karen Khachanov, Zizou Bergs of Belgium, and France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard all won their respective games in straight sets.
In the Chile Open, home favourite Cristian Garin gave a lot for the home fans to be buoyant as he made a remarkable come-from-behind win against Argentina’s qualifier Juan Pablo Ficovich in the first round in Santiago.
Garin was on the top of his game with his ability to register nine aces against the Argentine, who could only manage 3. In an all Brazilian contest, Gustavo Heide got the better of Thiago Seyboth Wild 7-5, 6-2 in the other first round match in Chile Open ATP 250.
Yannick Hanfmann of Germany prevailed over Argentian’s Facundo Diaz Acosta 7-5, 6-3 in straight sets and Laslo Diere of Serbia knocked out Ignacio Buse of Peru by a margin of 6-4, 6-3.
In Acapulco Open ATP 500 event, Czechia’s Tomas Machac won a hard-fought game against compatriot Jakub Mensik 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 in the first round. Casper Ruud of Norway won against Arthur Rinderknech of France 6-4, 6-3.
Tommy Paul of the United States thumped against Gabriel Diallo of Canada with an identical results 6-2, 6-2 while another American Ben Shelton rallied past Flavio Cobolli in the most thrilling game of the event where both opponents went on neck and neck with each other before the former stood victorious with a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) margin.
