New Delhi: Senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi have been axed from Pakistan squad for the Bangladesh T20Is. While the veteran players have been snubbed due to their inconsistent performances for a third successive series, pacer Hasan Ali has been recalled for the home T20I series this month.
Hasan has played just a single T20I in nearly three years when he registered expensive figures of 0/42 in three overs against Ireland in Dublin back in 2024. The right-arm pacer has made his way back into the squad after a brilliant performance in the Pakistan Super league (PSL) while representing Karachi Kings. Ali claimed 15 wickets in the PSL

Meanwhile, Rizwan and Babar were dropped for the last two series in Zimbabwe and New Zealand as Pakistan continued to reshape its top-order ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup.
Salman Ali Agha, who was named the skipper ahead of the T20 series in Australian last year, will continue as the captain of the side and Shadab Khan will play the role of his deputy. The series would be the first assignment for Pakistan’s newly-named white-ball coach Mike Hesson. The selectors have made eight changes to the squad which lost the series in New Zealand 1-4.
Meanwhile star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, Jahandad Khan and Abbas Afridi have been replaced by Hasan, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim while another pace bowler Mohammad Ali has also dropped.
