Why is Budhwa Mangal Celebrated?
During the Mahabharata era, Bhima became arrogant about his strength, according to legend. In order to humble Bhima, Hanumanji assumed the form of an old monkey (Budhwa Vanar). The incident took place on a Tuesday, which marked Budhwa Mangal.
In the Ramayana, another belief states that when Hanumanji went to Lanka in search of Sita, Ravana mocked him and imprisoned him. Hanumanji destroyed Ravana’s pride by setting Lanka on fire. This event also took place on a Tuesday during the month of Jyeshtha, contributing to the significance of Budhwa Mangal.
Rituals of Bada Mangal
Rituals can be performed in the following ways:
Wake up early before sunrise (Brahma Muhurta), take a bath, and wear clean clothes.
Clean Hanumanji’s idol with Ganga water.
Offer Dhoop, a Deep, ed flowers, Akshat, sandalwood paste (Chandan), and a red or orange loincloth (Langot) to Hanumanji.
Offer sweets like Motichoor laddoos or Boondi as prasad.
Visit a Hanuman temple, have darshan, and distribute food to the needy.
Offer a leaf from a Banyan tree to Hanumanji and later immerse the dried leaf in a holy river.
Mantra for Bada Mangal
Peace, prosperity, and happiness can be achieved by reciting the following mantra 108 times on each Bada Mangal:
Om Namo Hanumate Rudravataraya Vishwaroopaya Amit Vikramaya.
Prakatparakramaya Mahabalaya Surya Kotisamaprabhaaya Ramdootaya Swaha.
